Our take

Mandarin and lychee open Orchidée Vanille on a bright, slightly tropical fruit note before violet, bitter almond and Bulgarian rose settle the heart into something softer and more floral.

Randa Hammami built the base around vanilla absolute, tonka bean and cedar, and that combination turns the drydown genuinely gourmand, warm and a little bready by the time the vanilla fully takes hold. The lychee is what makes the opening interesting, an odd, slightly winey fruit note rarely paired with almond and vanilla this directly.

Wear time is average, competent without turning into an endurance test, and the sillage stays private, close enough to warm the collar of a coat without carrying much beyond it. Fall and winter carry the strongest season numbers, with spring holding up reasonably well, and the day figures run somewhat ahead of night, though not by a wide margin either way.

Bitter almond is the note that makes this more than a simple vanilla floral, giving the heart a faintly marzipan-like edge that resurfaces underneath the vanilla absolute all the way into the drydown. Cedar adds a dry, woody line under all that vanilla and almond, keeping real structure under the sweetness. It smells cozy and a little sweet, built for cold weather more than warm.
