Oudh Infini
Fragrance notes
Character
Oudh Infini opens with a blast of Laotian oud that is less medicinal smoke and more the raw, fermented funk of a damp forest floor. A fleeting whisper of Rose de Mai and Tunisian orange blossom tries to civilize it, but the florals are quickly swallowed by a rising tide of animalic warmth. The heart of sandalwood and benzoin adds a creamy, almost dusty resin that feels like old parchment, before the base drags the whole thing down into a sticky, powdered embrace of civet, musk, and Madagascar vanilla. The overall image is a velvet chaise lounge in a forgotten attic: elegant, stained, and radiating heat from some unseen animal.
This is a natural-smelling, confrontational fragrance, not a crowd-pleaser. It feels heavy and intimate, sitting close to the skin with moderate sillage that doesn’t project but lingers for a good eight hours. The civet is unapologetic, giving it a barnyard edge that will make the faint of heart recoil. If you crave pristine white musks or fresh laundry scents, skip this completely. But if you enjoy the grimy beauty of real oud and vintage animalics, this is worth your time. It suits a winter evening, a solo night by the fire, or any moment when you want to feel like a beautiful ruin. Its weakness is that the powder can sometimes flatten the oud’s complexity, making the blend feel slightly cloying on warmer days. Wear it in the cold and let it ferment on your skin.
