Raspberry Oud opens with a bright, tart raspberry that feels more like a glaze than a fresh bowl of fruit. It is sweet, but the sugar is quickly met by a sharp cinnamon stick and the resinous weight of Laotian oud. Jasmine and rose sit in the background, adding a soft white floral haze that keeps the spices from feeling too dry. The heart is busy, with the woods and the petals competing for space against the red fruit.
The drydown is where the composition settles into its true character. Benzoin and Madagascar vanilla create a thick, amber-rich blanket that feels heavy on the skin. The oud remains present, earthy and dark, while the musk and velvet accord introduce a powdery softness that rounds out the edges. It is a fragrance that fits a dimly lit room and a formal setting, projecting a sense of luxury through its warm, resinous base. The raspberry eventually fades into a memory, leaving behind a sweet, spicy wood that leans into gourmand territory. The limitation here is the synthetic edge on the raspberry, which can feel a bit candied and artificial against the natural depth of the oud and benzoin.
