Our take

Power by Kenzo feels like a handshake that never quite tightens. It opens with a bright, powdery slap of coriander and cardamom, softened by a whisper of bergamot, and then settles into a bouquet of anonymous white flowers that seem to be apologizing for their presence. The base of tolu balsam and labdanum tries to anchor it into something warm and ambered, but the cedar is so politely restrained it might as well be furniture polish. The overall character is a soft, dusty velvet curtain pulled across a window you weren’t sure you wanted to open. The sweetness is there, but it’s polite and powdery, almost synthetic in its insistence on being inoffensive. With a longevity barely above three and sillage that barely reaches two point eight, this is a fragrance that hovers close to the skin like a secret you’ve already forgotten. It suits the person who wants to smell vaguely nice at the office or on a quiet spring afternoon, but anyone hoping for a statement should skip it entirely. When exactly does a fragrance named Power get to flex? It doesn’t. It’s a spring day spent indoors, neat and forgettable.
