Our take

Pure DKNY opens with a delicate splash of lotus, clean and almost watery, like the first breath of morning air over a still pond. The jasmine and freesia tumble in soon after, not heavy or indolic but softened into a sheer, powdery haze. By the time the sandalwood and white amber settle into the base, the whole composition feels like a silk scarf caught on a spring breeze: floral, lightly woody, and dusted with the faintest whisper of powder.

This is a surprisingly introverted fragrance for a DKNY. Olivier Cresp crafted something that sits close to the skin, barely lifting beyond arm’s length, and it fades fast. Two hours in, you’ll be pressing your wrist to your nose to catch the drydown of Bulgarian rose and orchid, now more a ghost of itself than a presence. It’s not a weakness if you prefer intimacy, but if you want a scent that announces your arrival, this will leave you disappointed.

Best worn on a sunny weekday when you want something innocuous and pretty. It suits the woman who finds loud florals headache-inducing and prefers her jasmine tender, her sandalwood barely there. Skip it if you crave projection or all-day stamina. Pure DKNY is a fleeting, pleasant whisper, lovely while it lasts, but asking it to last past lunch is asking a lot.
