Tomato leaf is the note that makes DKNY Women stand out from other citrus florals of its era, green and slightly bitter against orange, mandarin and apricot at the top. It's an odd, appealing contrast, more garden than fruit bowl, before a crowd of white and yellow flowers, water lily, narcissus, jasmine, ylang-ylang, orchid and rose, take over the heart.
Birch, suede and patchouli give the base an unexpected leather edge under all that citrus and flower, dry where the top notes are green and juicy. Wear time is middling, neither brief nor especially generous, and sillage is soft, a small halo that stays near the collarbone.
Warm weather is where it belongs, worn to work or out in the sun without feeling out of place, and it suits anyone who wants a floral that doesn't lean sweet or syrupy. The tomato leaf's green, vegetal edge softens only gradually as the white flowers and suede-leather base settle in, never quite disappearing altogether. Birch and suede take over by the finish, the inside of a leather bag left open on a garden table.
