Our take

Pure Sugar opens with a bright, almost fizzy blast of wild strawberry and pink grapefruit, the kind of citrus that feels more candy peel than fresh squeeze. Within seconds, pink pepper flickers through like static on a radio, not spicy enough to bite but enough to keep the fruit from going flat. The heart settles into plum blossom, which reads less like actual flowers and more like the memory of a fruit-scented eraser, soft and faintly powdery. Then praline and jasmine sambac emerge, but here’s the rub: the jasmine is barely a whisper, and the praline is a thin syrup skimmed off the top rather than a rich, nutty depth.

The overall character is like a single sugar cube dissolving in a glass of sparkling water, sweet but fleeting, visible one moment and gone the next. That 2.10 sillage and 2.34 longevity aren’t exaggerations, this fades to a skin scent within an hour and vanishes completely by the two hour mark. It feels unmistakably mainstream and synthetic, not in a harsh way but in the way a drugstore lip gloss smells like berries and nothing else. It suits someone who wants a cheerful, uncomplicated spritz for a spring afternoon brunch or a warm evening where reapplying is part of the ritual. Skip it if you crave presence, complexity, or anything that lasts past a single conversation. Wear it when you want to smell like a pretty pink drink you finished in three sips, not a perfume that demands attention.
