Our take

You stand in a cool forest clearing with resin under your fingernails and a slice of pink grapefruit in your hand. The opening is brisk and aromatic, fir needles rubbing against bright citrus. It feels outdoors and awake, a walk through evergreen trees on a crisp morning.

Jasmine sambac arrives with a gentle heat, softened by pink pepper that sparks without stinging. The fig sits in the heart too, still green and textured, not yet the syrup it becomes later. This stage bridges the fresh top and the heavy base with a floral warmth that feels natural and unforced.

The drydown is where Fig lives. Ripe fig meets musk, civet, castoreum, and oud in a musky, woody, animalic bed. It is sweet and fruity, yet the animalic notes give it a raw, slightly wild edge that feels intimate and bold. The accord is dense, aromatic, and unmistakably niche.

Aftelier builds for the person who wants fruit wrapped in fur and resin, perfect for a sunlit path that turns into a wooded trail. The limitation is clear. The castoreum and civet are strong and unapologetic, so anyone who prefers clean, safe skin scents should simply choose a different bottle.
