Our take

Rose de Nuit opens with a dark, honeyed rose that feels less like a bouquet and more like a stolen kiss in a dusty attic. The beeswax wraps the flower in a sticky, almost medicinal warmth, while apricot flickers beneath like a sly wink. Jasmine adds a green, indolic shimmer, but it’s the musk and animalic undertow that makes this thing breathe. This is not a polite floral. It is a chypre without the oakmoss, a perfume that wears its powder like a fine grit, dry and slightly abrasive. The sandalwood and amber anchor it into a woody base that never fully surrenders to sweetness. If I had to picture it, I’d say it is a wilted rose corsage pinned to a tweed jacket at midnight, crushed but still bleeding.

The overall character is heavy yet intimate, natural in its oddness but unmistakably niche. Longevity clocks in at a modest 3.62 out of 5, meaning it hugs skin rather than shouting across a room. Sillage is similarly restrained, barely a 3.17. That is not a flaw if you value closeness over projection. It blooms best in fall and winter, when the chill air lets that beeswax and amber unfurl without turning cloying. Wear it after dark, for a quiet dinner or a solo walk when you want to smell complex but not loudly so.

Who should try it? Anyone who loves a true rose that is more leather than petal, more animal than angel. Skip it if you want a fresh, dewy rose or expect a high-velocity compliment getter. This is perfume for your own nose, a secret you keep under your collar. And isn’t that the whole point of a rose at night?
