Our take

Terralba opens with a sharp citrus flash, lemon and tangerine cutting through a haze of clary sage that smells almost dusty and sunbaked. Within minutes the heart reveals itself, thyme and myrtle adding a dry, resinous greenness while the curry tree leaf introduces a curious savory bitterness, like crushed herbs left to warm on a stone wall. The immortelle here is restrained, offering a faint honeyed warmth rather than the usual syrupy overdose. As the fragrance settles, mastic and cypress take over, a woody core that feels ancient and sunbleached, with juniper adding a crisp, almost ginlike lift. The overall character is a single vivid image: a Mediterranean hillside at noon, the soil cracked, the scrub vegetation releasing its aromatic oils into still, hot air.

This is a niche aromatic through and through, entirely natural in feel, dry rather than sweet, and refreshingly unapologetic about its herbal bite. It is not loud, however. The sillage sits close, a personal cloud rather than a declaration, and longevity fades to a whisper after four hours, which is its primary weakness. Do you want to be noticed, or do you prefer to notice the world around you? This fragrance suits the latter: quiet contemplative souls who appreciate earthy, botanical complexity over crowd pleasing sweetness. Skip it if you demand projection or a full day’s wear. Wear it on a bright spring afternoon, a linen shirt, a walk through coastal scrub, or a day spent reading in the shade.
