Our take

Zanzibar opens with a sharp, almost medicinal edge that can catch the nose off guard. The jasmine and ylang-ylang rise together in a thick, yellow floral cloud, while the rose adds a powdery softness that threatens to tip the balance toward the cloying. It is a heavy, sweet atmosphere that feels styled for a specific kind of patience. You are standing in a sunlit conservatory filled with terracotta pots and damp soil. The air is still and warm, heavy with the scent of blooming vines that have grown unchecked against the glass panes. Lemon leaf cuts a bright, green path through the white floral density, preventing the petals from overwhelming the space entirely. As you move past a wooden bench, the scent shifts toward the floor. Sandalwood and cedar ground the air, replacing the heady sweetness with a dry, resonant woodiness. The timber of the bench and the planks underfoot seem to exhale alongside the flowers. This is a fragrance of dense white floral accords meeting a firm, woody base.
