Our take

Jasmine, orange and bergamot open Pure Poison on a bright, citrus-laced white floral note, before gardenia and orange blossom take over and thicken the heart into something creamier and more assertive. The composition holds firm on skin, wrapping into a close, warm cloud, not something that overwhelms a room but present enough to be caught by anyone standing near. Sandalwood, white amber and white musk close it out with a powdery, faintly animalic warmth that softens the florals without letting them turn simply clean. Sicilian mandarin adds a brief burst of sweetness at the very start, fading before the florals take full hold.

It suits every season well, thanks to notes that feel equally green-citrus in warm weather and warmer, powdery in the cold, and its balance between day and night makes it equally believable at a desk or at a dinner. Someone who dislikes heavy white florals, jasmine and gardenia especially, should test this before buying, since that pairing is the whole backbone of the scent and never really steps aside.

What stands out most is how the animalic edge keeps the white florals from turning powdery and flat, giving the whole thing a slightly warm, skin-like undertone. It keeps a warm, slightly animalic edge all the way through, rather than settling into pure powder.
