Our take

The opening is a slap of cold asphalt after summer rain, sharp and almost medicinal. Bergamot and aldehydes crackle like static before a storm, then bay leaf and vetiver drag it into the earth. The heart wears its tar as a badge of honor, but this isn't a bonfire or a campfire. It's freshly laid road under a parking lot floodlight, the camphor and styrax lending a sterile, balsamic hum that never quite warms up. Opoponax and sandalwood try to smooth the edges, but the aldehydes keep the whole thing slightly plastic, slightly confrontational.

This is Nathalie Feisthauer's 2004 experiment in abrasion, and it wears like a freshly torn leather jacket lined with amber. Not sweet. Not fresh. It sits close to the skin with that modest sillage and moderate longevity, which is a blessing because too much would be overwhelming. The floral notes are ghosts, barely there to break the monotony.

Who wears this? Someone who treats fragrance as armor, not accessory. Fans of cultier Comme des Garçons, industrial spaces, or that one corner of a punk show where the PA smells of ozone and sweat. Skip it if you want compliments, soft edges, or a scent that says "come closer." It says "stand back, I'm thinking."

Wear it to a gallery opening, a solo commute on a grey November evening, or anywhere you need a stiffened spine. Fall is the only season that truly owns it. Day or night, it doesn't care. And why should it?
