Our take

Acqua di Gio stays close to the skin from the first spray. The sillage never builds into a real cloud. It behaves as a skin scent that only the people nearest you will catch, which makes it an easy fragrance to overspray without anyone minding.

Lime, lemon, and bergamot open bright and citrus-forward, with jasmine and orange folded in early. Sea notes and calone give it that wet-stone, ocean-air quality the fragrance built its name on, and rosemary adds a sharp herbal edge underneath the florals.

Cedar, oakmoss, and patchouli hold the base down, quiet and woody beneath all that citrus and salt water, never asserting themselves the way the opening does. Staying power is moderate here, average for the category and honestly the fragrance's weakest trait. It is built for warm weather and daylight, worn to the beach or on a hot commute, where freshness matters more than projection ever could. Citrus and salt water carry the whole composition, with cedar settling underneath for a bit of woody weight, and the whole thing feels engineered for heat and open air.
