Our take

You get a sharp, peppery pop of cardamom on the first spray, green and slightly medicinal, before a thick slab of leather rolls in like a tarp dragged across hot asphalt. The agarwood is present but not swampy — it’s more of a smoked wood plank than a barnyard, and the amber underneath keeps things warm rather than sticky. Alberto Morillas has built a surprisingly civilized animalic here, one that wears like a leather jacket with the collar popped up on a brisk autumn evening. The overall character is that of a backroom in a Moroccan tannery: dry, dusty, faintly sweet from curing hides, with a wisp of cardamom smoke curling out an open window. It’s clearly a designer take on oud — approachable, synthetic-leaning in a polished way, but never cheap. The problems are the ones the numbers forecast: longevity taps out after three hours, and sillage sits close like a shy bodyguard. This is not a frag you buy for projection; it’s for moments when you want something rugged without offending the entire room. Wear it on a fall afternoon commute or a winter dinner date where you’ll be close enough to be smelled. Skip it if you crave beast-mode performance or if barnyard realness makes you recoil. For the price, this blooms just long enough to flirt and then vanishes — appropriate for someone who likes the idea of oud but doesn’t want to live in it.
