Friday Freaking Gorgeous opens with a sharp, almost brittle bite of bitter almond and bergamot, a promising citrus that quickly softens into something more plush. The heart is where this fragrance earns its name: a warm, creamy sandalwood wrapped around a subtle lily of the valley and a barely-there rose, like a cashmere sweater that’s been lightly dusted with powder. The drydown is all vanilla, musk, and tonka, a sugary, nutty haze that clings close to the skin.
The overall character is that of a cozy afternoon nap in a sunbeam, the kind where you wake up with a faint vanilla sweetness on your collar and no memory of why you feel so good. It feels decidedly synthetic in a playful, mainstream way, more a cheerful ready-to-wear dress than a haute couture gown. The longevity is a letdown, barely three hours, and the sillage is practically a whisper, which is a shame for something so likable. You will have to reapply, and you will want to.
