Our take

Bergamot opens bright and citrus-clean, brief before iris takes over and turns the fragrance powdery and a little cool. Chestnut sits alongside the iris, giving it a roasted, slightly bitter warmth that toughens the powder, pulling it away from anything purely soft or floral. The chestnut in particular gives an unusually food-like impression, like a roasted nut eaten straight from the shell.

Whiskey arrives in the base and changes the register entirely, bringing something boozy and warm that pairs oddly well with the amber and woodsy notes underneath it. Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp built the drydown around that whiskey accord, and it stands out as the most distinctive part of the whole fragrance, the kind of note that makes people ask what you are wearing.

Violet threads through quietly beneath the iris, adding a soft, cosmetic note that keeps the whiskey and amber from feeling heavy-handed. Nutty and earthy touches round out the base further, giving the whole composition a dry, grounded finish that never fully settles into comfort. It is a fragrance built on contrast, powder against whiskey, cool against warm, and that friction is what makes it worth a second sniff instead of a passing one.
