Reine de Nuit
Fragrance notes
Character
The gallery is quiet after the private viewing ends. A glass of red wine sits untouched on a ledge while the air carries a dark fruit opening that feels rich and slightly tart. Black currant gives the first impression a cool depth, and saffron threads through it with a warm, metallic glow. The room feels enclosed and intimate, the kind of space where a scent can move through the air without being forced.
Incense begins to rise as the evening settles, dry and faintly resinous against the green, mineral touch of alumroot. The smoke does not overwhelm the room. It floats near the shoulders and lingers in the air around the person wearing it, present enough that someone standing close can place it clearly.
Deeper into the night, black rose unfolds with a velvet weight, supported by patchouli that feels earthy rather than sharp. Ambrette smooths the edges with a soft, musky glow that keeps the florals from feeling brittle. The scent stays with you through the walk home, trailing behind you on the cold street.
The door closes and the hallway still holds the trace of rose and smoke, as if the flowers were left in a stone courtyard after a fire burned out.
