Warm milk and wheat open the show, a strange, doughy start that some people find comforting and others find odd right away. Licorice and coconut move in fast, joined by immortelle's faint sweetness, and for a while the whole thing smells like something you could eat rather than wear. Spices and osmanthus add a drier, more floral edge once that opening burns off, and sandalwood and amber settle in underneath for the rest of the wear, apricot adding one last note of soft fruit along the way.
The lactonic, milky quality never fully disappears, which is either the best or worst thing about Jeux de Peau depending on how you feel about smelling faintly of warm dairy in public. It keeps to a small, warm bubble, picked up mainly by whoever stands close, and holds for a fair stretch without pushing into anything longer. A nutty, herbal thread runs underneath the sweetness, giving the whole composition more texture than any single note could explain alone. It is an odd, memorable fragrance, not a crowd-pleasing one, and that oddness is really the appeal.
