Character
Pear and hazelnut open the fragrance with a warm, nutty sweetness, olibanum adding a resinous edge before anything floral shows up. Osmanthus arrives in the heart with its odd apricot-leather quality, and saffron gives the rose a dry, slightly medicinal warmth, jasmine sambac adding a fuller, creamier floral layer alongside it. Quentin Bisch composed this in 2023.
Sandalwood, vanilla, and labdanum build a thick, creamy base, and akigalawood adds a dark, woody depth that makes the whole drydown hard to shift once it settles in. The sillage leaves a trail too, amber and vanilla drifting outward enough that people nearby register it before you say a word. Between the nutty opening, the dry rose and saffron heart, and this heavy base, very little about the fragrance stays static for long.
Its season runs from spring through winter, and day and night both suit it, which makes it an easy fragrance to reach for without much planning. The nutty, resinous opening is the most distinctive part, unusual enough that it stands apart from the straightforward fruity florals crowding this category, and the saffron-dusted rose in the heart keeps that same slightly savory thread going well into the base.
