Our take

Lilac Love opens on a crowd of white and pale flowers, heliotrope, lilac, gardenia, jasmine, peony and rose layered together into a single soft floral haze, not any one bloom standing apart. Heliotrope brings the almond-like sweetness that ties the whole opening together, powdery and gentle from the very start.

Cacao is the note that pulls the composition somewhere unexpected in the heart, a bitter, slightly dusty chocolate note sitting alongside tonka bean and orris. The cacao cuts the sweetness of the florals, giving the middle stage a dry, almost cocoa-powder texture under the lilac and jasmine that most floral gourmands skip entirely.

Vanilla, sandalwood and patchouli close things out, and the base is where the extra attention shows. Sandalwood adds a creamy woodiness that softens the cacao's bitterness, patchouli grounds the whole thing in something earthy, and vanilla stays gentle rather than dominant, letting the floral-cacao pairing lead even in the drydown. That combination sticks around for a long stretch, the cacao-floral pairing still readable on skin once the opening bouquet has quieted, and the sillage settles into a modest bubble, noticeable to anyone who stands nearby.

Spring is where the lilac feels most at home, though the cacao gives it enough depth to wear into cooler months too, when a purely sweet floral would feel out of place.
