Oud Wood Parfum
Fragrance notes
Character
Cardamom and pink pepper crackle with dry heat over a sprig of rosemary, green and herbal, before the heart settles into sandalwood’s creamy expanse. The oud here is a polished guest, not the barnyard squatter of the original. It’s dusted with patchouli’s earth and vetiver’s root, then softened by vanilla and tonka into a powdery amber glow. The whole thing feels like a cashmere blanket draped over a leather armchair in a dim library warm, slightly dusty, refined but not aloof. For a parfum concentration, the sillage is a surprising whisper, barely two arms-lengths, and longevity clocks in at a polite six hours. That’s its weakness: you get the intimacy without the presence. It suits the person who found the original Oud Wood too sharp or too loud, who wants the woody-spicy skeleton wrapped in a sweet, balsamic comfort. Skip it if you crave animalic funk or projection that fills a room. This is for crisp autumn evenings, late winter dinners, a velvet blazer and a glass of bourbon. A cashmere throw with a single loose thread luxurious, but you have to lean in to feel it.
