Play It Lovely opens with a squirt of blackberry syrup and a citrus fizz, a pear that’s more pear candy than orchard fruit. The first impression is bright and sweet, the kind of bubbly that makes you think of a cheap mimosa at brunch. Then the florals roll in: orchid and tuberose, creamy and a little waxy, with night-blooming cereus adding a soapy, almost aquatic sheen.
