Our take

Picture a leather-bound journal left open on a mossy stone in a Persian garden, its pages soaked in lavender rain and the smoky grit of a distant bonfire. That is Fars. It opens with a brisk snap of juniper and bergamot that quickly softens into a lavender so herbal it almost stings, like crushed stems rather than a soapy bouquet. The heart is where the tension lives: geranium’s rose-tinged greenness tangles with a cedar so dry it splinters, while jasmine adds a dewy, almost narcotic counterpoint. Then comes the base, a slow burn of cypriol’s leathery earth, patchouli’s dark humus, and a sandalwood-vetiver blend that feels ancient and patient. The ambergris is there, but it’s not the salty, luminous kind; it’s mineral and animalic, like warmed skin after a long walk.

This is not a crowd-pleaser. It sits close to the body (sillage around 3.5/5) and lasts a moderate 4-6 hours on me, which is honest for a composition this dense. The sweetness is minimal, the freshness is aromatic, not citrusy, and the whole thing has a natural, almost rough-hewn texture that feels niche in the best sense. It suits someone who prefers introspection over projection, who wants a scent that smells like time and place rather than compliments. Skip it if you want bright pop or sugary warmth. Wear it on a chilly fall afternoon when the wind smells of wet leaves, or on a winter evening by a fireplace with wool and whiskey. Fars is a landscape, not a portrait.
