Grapefruit opens Jour d'Hermes Absolu with a bitter, juicy snap, and apricot blossom follows almost immediately, softening the citrus into something rounder and a touch fruity. The florals never pile up here: gardenia and jasmine sambac are laid in cleanly instead of stacked into a thick bouquet.
Jean-Claude Ellena is credited as the nose behind it, and the fragrance was launched in 2014. Floral notes fill in the space between the named flowers, keeping the heart soft-edged and a little diffuse. Woody notes and oakmoss anchor the base, dry and faintly mossy, giving the florals somewhere to settle without turning heavy.
It's built for daylight almost entirely, and the season pattern agrees, strongest through spring, still comfortable in summer, tapering as fall settles in.
