Our take

Aventus has a real limitation before anything else gets discussed: staying power is moderate, average by most standards, and the sillage is a modest bubble, mostly noticed by whoever is standing close. Both are worth naming plainly, because the rest of the composition is built with far more ambition than that suggests.

Bergamot, black currant, apple, lemon and pink pepper open bright and a little sharp, tart rather than sweet at first, before pineapple, patchouli and Moroccan jasmine bring in a tropical, fruity heart. Birch, musk, oak moss, cedarwood and ambroxan settle underneath into something smoky and mossy, giving the fruit a leather-like backbone it wouldn't have on its own.

The fruit and smoky woods together create something like a green apple dipped in leather polish, sweet on contact and dry by the finish. Spring and summer are clearly its strongest seasons, with daylight wear suiting it more naturally than night.

The moderate staying power is the tradeoff for how vivid the top accord feels early on, but the fruit-and-wood character carries plenty of interest regardless. Fruit-forward, leather-tinged woods over something heavier or sweeter is the appeal, an easy fit for anyone drawn to that particular pairing.
