Peppermint and absinthe are an odd pair to put in a men's fragrance top note, and Viking leans into the oddity: pink pepper and lemon sharpen the mint into something closer to crushed herbs than candy, while absinthe adds a faint, bitter-green edge more herbal than boozy. It lasts a good while on skin, a solid, unremarkable middle performer that never demands much attention.
Lavender and Bulgarian rose take the heart in an unusual direction for something marketed to men, floral and slightly powdery, propped up by clove, allspice and orris root so the rose stays dry rather than sweet. Jasmine adds a last touch of white flower before vetiver, cedar and tonka bean bring the whole thing down to a dry, woody base with a warm, nutty finish.
It covers most of the year comfortably, spring through fall and into winter, and works equally well by day or after dark, which is unusual for something this herbal up top. Sillage stays modest, a scent felt more than broadcast, closer to your own space than the room's, easily picked up by a colleague sitting across a desk.
