Character
Mandarin orange, ginger and pink pepper open Aventus Cologne fast and bright, with bergamot and spearmint keeping the citrus cool rather than sweet. Olivier Creed built the top accord to move quickly, spiced and a little sharp before it settles, the ginger giving it a warmth the mandarin alone wouldn't carry. Vetiver, patchouli and sandalwood settle into the heart next, dry and grounded, and the ozonic accord adds a clean, aromatic freshness that bridges the citrus and the woods smoothly.
Musk, birch, tonka bean, styrax and cedar close the base, and the birch brings a light smokiness back in, echoing the pink pepper from the opening. Styrax adds a faint balsamic thickness underneath, rounding out a woody musk that would otherwise stay fairly plain. Tonka bean lends a soft, slightly sweet edge to the finish, warming the dry cedar and musk underneath. Sillage forms a modest bubble, easily picked up by whoever's standing at the next desk over. Longevity runs a fair, unhurried course, clear early on and gradually softer, present and then quiet. Summer is where it performs best, worn outdoors when the citrus and light smoke have room to breathe.
