Luna Rossa Black suits men who find most amber fragrances too loud and most fresh ones too thin. Bergamot is the only citrus in the whole structure, gone within minutes, and what's left is angelica and patchouli building into something dry and slightly bitter before the sweetness arrives. Angelica in particular gives the opening an odd, almost vegetal edge, sharper and less sweet than the amber that follows it.
Coumarin, amber and musk carry the base, and the balsamic, powdery finish is where the fragrance actually spends most of its life. It holds firm once it settles in, warm and a little sweet without turning into a straightforward gourmand, and the sillage settles into a quiet zone around the collarbone, not spreading much past it. Musk keeps the amber grounded, never letting it float into something too sweet or candied.
It reads as an evening fragrance for cooler months, and it fits someone drawn to amber but wanting it kept dry and slightly aromatic instead of vanilla-forward. Men looking for a bright, citrus-heavy signature scent should look elsewhere, since bergamot barely gets a sentence here before the patchouli and amber take over completely.
