Our take

The morning air carries a sharp bite when the door of the study opens. Retrospection enters on a rush of galbanum and aldehydes, the green brightness cut by wormwood and the clean edge of lavender. Rosemary and petitgrain sharpen the opening further, creating a space that feels arranged rather than accidental. The aromatic herbs do not soften as the minutes pass. They hold their shape while orange blossom and lily-of-the-valley drift through, joined by jasmine and a clary sage that keeps the flowers from turning sweet. Coriander and cloves add a dry heat that sits beneath the white petals, and geranium pulls the heart toward the green accord that started the day.

The base arrives with oakmoss and civet, the animalic depth wrapped in leather and a beeswax warmth that feels thick on the skin. Orris and vetiver ground the resinous frankincense, while sandalwood and patchouli give the woods a steady weight. Musk and amber linger beside cedar and tonka bean, and the scent remains present in the room long after the person wearing it has moved across it. The composition stays close enough to be noticed by someone nearby without overwhelming the space, and the scent continues through a long afternoon without thinning into a faint trace.

Coriander and clove keep the floral heart from drifting too far from the herbs, so the transition to leather and moss feels earned. The resin and wax in the base give the air a golden tint that matches the wood panels and the heavy desk. A brass lamp casts a steady circle of light onto a open notebook, and the ink on the page smells faintly of cedar and galbanum.
