Our take

Eros Parfum opens with a blast of mint so cold it feels like chewing ice, but the lemon and black pepper crackle underneath, sharp and electric. That litsea cubeba gives it a metallic, almost synthetic greenness that never quite settles into anything natural. Within minutes, the green apple and lavender shove their way in, sweet and glossy, like a fruit basket that’s been lacquered. The heart is loud and crowded, each note fighting for attention instead of blending. Drydown is where it finally relaxes: tonka and vanilla turn creamy, patchouli adds a dry earthiness, and benzoin smooths the whole thing into a warm amber cushion. The overall image is a marble statue that someone spray-painted gold, impressive at a distance but plastic up close. It feels heavy but not deep, sweet but not gourmand, leaning synthetic in a way that screams designer rather than niche. The longevity is decent at around six hours, but the sillage is modest, puffing out a dense bubble then shrinking fast. This suits a man in his twenties who wants to be noticed at a club or a spring wedding, especially if he likes compliments from strangers. Skip it if you prefer restrained, airy scents or anything remotely subtle. A single rhetorical question: does Versace really need another amber bomb in an amphora bottle?
