Bergamote 22 does exactly what its name says and nothing more dramatic. Bergamot and grapefruit dominate from the first spray, sharp and a little bitter, with petitgrain adding a green, leafy edge that gives the citrus some bitterness beyond simple juice. Orange blossom sits quietly underneath, a soft white floral note rather than a loud one, barely noticeable until the citrus starts to fade. Musk and cedar are barely perceptible on their own, folded so far into the citrus that they read more as texture than as separate notes.
Vetiver, cedar and musk bring some structure to what would otherwise be a very simple citrus, with vanilla and amber offering just enough warmth to carry the drydown without turning the whole thing sweet. Staying power sits at a fair, average pace, present but not stubborn, fading at a steady, unhurried rate. The sillage is a true skin scent, worn close and private, the kind of thing you catch on your own wrist more than anyone standing near you. Spring and summer are the only seasons that make sense for it, bergamot and grapefruit both wanting warm air and bare skin to really open up. It rewards close contact more than distance, the sort of citrus you notice on yourself before anyone else does.
