Our take

Amor Amor Mon Parfum Du Soir opens with a brisk squeak of black currant and mandarin, all tart citrus and shiny dark fruit, before the heart floods in with blackberry jam and a rose that feels candied rather than dewy. The freesia is there to keep things from turning into straight-up syrup, but the base of sugar, vanilla, and patchouli makes its intentions clear: this is a dessert wrapped in a floral dress. The whole thing smells like a velvet evening bag that spilled open over a plate of berry compote and crushed rose petals, sticky and warm and a little bit decadent.

Dominique Ropion crafted a sweet, fruity floral that wears its synthetic gloss proudly, leaning into the kind of polished mainstream sweetness that feels comfortable rather than challenging. The longevity and sillage are modest, 3.60 and 3.38 respectively, so this won’t announce your arrival from across the room, but it will hum softly on your skin for a few hours. That’s its real weakness: it lacks the stamina to match its rich ambition, fading just when you want it to linger.

This is a winter night scent through and through, suited to someone who loves sugar-drenched florals and wants an easy, cozy option for date evenings or dinners with friends. Anyone who prefers airy green florals or sharp woody minimalism should skip it. Wear it when you want to feel like the prettiest thing in the room, but don’t ask it to last till last call.
