Our take

LouLou belongs to women who like their florals with some weight to them. The opening throws plum, cinnamon wood, iris, violet, lily, anise, jasmine, mimosa and cassia into one dense handful, spiced and a little smoky before the powder settles in. Anise adds a faint licorice snap to that opening blend, an old-fashioned touch rarely used in florals built today. Ylang-ylang, heliotrope, orris root, orange blossom and tahitian tiare flower thicken the heart into something closer to a bouquet left too long in a warm car than a fresh-cut arrangement. Incense, vanilla, benzoin, sandalwood and musk take the base into balsamic, amber territory, dark and a little resinous. It suits evening occasions through and through, built for settings where a big, old-school floral reads as glamorous, not out of place. It leaves a real trail once it opens up, easily picked up by whoever passes near you, and it holds firm well past the point where you've stopped noticing it on yourself.

Anyone nostalgic for eighties maximalist florals will recognize a lot to love in LouLou, especially the way plum and incense work together in the drydown. Anyone hoping for something quiet or transparent should keep looking.
