Our take

Carrot seeds are an odd top note to build a floral around, earthy and slightly sweet, and they show up early in La Femme before magnolia and bergamot take over. Daniela Andrier composed the heart around frangipani, tuberose and ylang-ylang, tropical and heavy, balanced by a powdery lift from iris. Spices in the heart add a faint warmth alongside the tropical florals, more savory than the fruit and honey notes.

Beeswax and vanilla give the base its most distinctive quality, warm and honeyed, while vetiver adds a dry, green contrast underneath. The hold is workmanlike, moderate rather than showy, and sillage is gentle, felt up close by whoever you're standing near. Skin that runs warm will likely amplify the honey and beeswax more than skin that runs cool.

It wears through most of the year, easiest in warm weather when the tropical florals feel most at home, and suits anyone who likes tuberose and ylang-ylang given a waxy, honeyed softness. Anyone who wants a clean, transparent floral should look elsewhere, since this stays dense and a little strange throughout. The carrot seed and beeswax pairing keeps resurfacing through the wear, an odd, waxy signature that never fully fades into the florals. Beeswax and honey stay with it longest, a candle's wax pooling soft around its own wick.
