Our take

Cuir de Nuit opens with a brisk pinch of pink pepper that snaps against the tongue like a spicy bonbon, then immediately softens into a powdery cocoa cloud. The coffee note is present but polite, more of a dry mocha dust than a fresh brew, while Tahitian vanilla wraps everything in a plush, slightly synthetic sweetness that feels like a cashmere scarf with a hint of plastic tag still attached. It develops barely at all from there, settling within twenty minutes into a warm, soft, sweet cocoa-vanilla haze with just enough spice to keep it from being pure dessert.

This fragrance is a velvety evening robe, worn in a dimly lit boudoir where the only sound is the rustle of silk and the faint clink of a spoon stirring hot chocolate. It is decidedly mainstream in its approach, safe and cosseting rather than adventurous. The longevity is a genuine disappointment, fading to a skin scent within three hours, and the sillage is barely a whisper after the first hour. You will need to reapply if you want anyone else to notice you are wearing it.

Cuir de Nuit suits someone who wants a quiet, comfortable gourmand for cool weather, a fragrance that asks for nothing and gives a gentle hug. Skip it if you crave bold projection, leathery bite, or any real evolution. Wear it on a lazy autumn afternoon at home, or for an intimate dinner where you intend to stay close. It is a nice cup of cocoa, not a night to remember.
