The opening hits first with bright bergamot that cuts through the damp air, while pink pepper adds a sharp, tingling edge to the breeze. It is a crisp start that feels alert and awake.
As the walk continues past lit windows, jasmine begins to rise. It is soft and slightly soapy, sitting close to the skin but distinct. Vetiver runs beneath it with a clean, earthy texture that keeps the white floral note from floating away. The blend feels composed and steady, like a jacket that fits exactly right.
Further down the block, the base begins to settle into the air around the wearer. Tobacco shows up warm and slightly dry, followed by amber that adds a golden, rounded sweetness. Musk smooths the edges so the transition feels seamless. The scent sits in the space between aromatic freshness and oriental depth.
Chris Maurice built a fragrance that smells polished and expensive, but the jasmine here leans heavily into a powdery finish. On skin, that softness can read as dated rather than refined. The composition is pleasant, though it lacks a modern sharpness that would keep it from feeling like a relic of an older style.
