Our take

Anelo by Pernoire opens like a tropical fruit salad hit with a splash of citrus, pineapple and pomelo leading with a bright, almost fizzy sweetness. The mandarin cuts the initial sugar just enough, but the heart rushes in with ripe mango and a sharp ginger kick that keeps things from tipping into cloying territory. The magnolia adds a subtle floral creaminess, smoothing the edges before the base settles into an amber-laced vetiver and patchouli that grounds the whole thing in warm, woody earth. The overall character is a sun-drenched fruit bowl overturned on a mossy stone, vibrant but not naive.

This is undeniably sweet and fruity, but the ginger and vetiver pull it toward fresh-spicy territory, keeping it from feeling like a synthetic smoothie. It leans niche in its refusal to simplify, though the execution is polished enough for mainstream comfort. The longevity is solid, around four hours on my skin, but the sillage stays intimate, a polite arm’s-length whisper rather than a room-filling declaration. That moderate projection is both its strength and its soft spot, it feels personal and wearable, but if you want to announce your arrival, this won’t do it.

It thrives in spring and summer, preferably during daylight, when the heat lifts those tropical notes without turning them syrupy. Skip it if you hate sweet fragrances or need something for cold weather, it falters in fall and will vanish in winter. Who does it suit? Someone who wants a sunny, upbeat scent that doesn’t scream for attention, a quiet escape in a bottle.
