Beautiful Belle opens with a fizzy pop of litchi and mimosa, the rose sitting back like a well mannered guest. If you have ever pressed your nose into a bouquet of white flowers still wet with morning dew, you will recognise the gardenia and tuberose that quickly take over, creamy and almost edible, with orange blossom adding a soapy brightness. Then the base sneaks in: marzipan and suede, sweet but not syrupy, with a dusting of orris that turns the whole thing into something powdery and a little plush. It feels like a cashmere sweater you borrowed from someone who wears Chanel lipstick and reads old paperbacks.
The overall character is soft, white and girlish but with a warm animalic undercurrent, like a kitten that purrs and then bites your finger. It is undeniably pretty, leaning mainstream and slightly synthetic in the opening, though the dry down smooths out nicely. With longevity around three hours and sillage that hugs the skin, it will not announce you before you enter a room. This is for someone who wants a gentle spring day scent, something sweet and floral that feels like a secret rather than a statement. Skip it if you crave projection or something dark and brooding.
