Our take

Black Powder opens with a slap of boozy black currant and a sharp green apple bite, but that pimento note keeps things interesting, a peppery warmth that stops it from veering into candy territory. The suede and tobacco leaf come forward quickly, dry and slightly dusty, like the inside of a vintage camera bag that has seen better decades. Incense adds a smoky, almost ecclesiastical stillness in the heart, but the sweetness from tonka and patchouli in the base pulls it back toward something more wearable, a soft, powdery sandalwood finish that lingers close to the skin.

The overall character feels like a leather jacket that was stored in a cedar chest for twenty years, then worn to a bonfire where someone kept tossing dried apple peel into the flames. It is warm spicy and fruity, but not cloying, leaning more niche than mainstream, with a synthetic smoothness that actually works in its favor. The longevity and sillage are modest, around three hours before it becomes a personal scent, which is the main weakness, especially for a fragrance named after gunpowder and leather.

This one suits someone who wants a cozy, unisex leather that does not roar, perfect for fall and winter days or a mellow evening out. Skip it if you expect beast mode projection or a dry, rugged leather, this is suede, not saddle. Wear it to a bookstore, a long walk in cold weather, or a quiet dinner where the scent stays your secret.
