Our take

Boisée Rouge opens with a handful of dark berries crushed into a single sticky chord: cherry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry all tangled together, sweet enough to make your teeth ache. The bitter almond in the heart doesn’t cut the sugar so much as deepen it into something almost marzipan-like, while heliotrope and cherry blossom whisper a powdery floral undercurrent. As it dries, the base pulls the whole thing toward a suede-lined winter cabin, with vanilla and tonka adding warmth and sandalwood giving just enough woody structure to keep it from collapsing into candy floss.

The overall impression is a black forest cake left too long in a leather workshop: sticky, rich, and slightly dusty. It feels decidedly synthetic in the opening, which is why the rating sits at a modest 3.88, but the longevity is beastly at 4.57 and sillage hovers comfortably above average, so you get full value for the price of entry. This is a nighttime scent through and through, and winter is its only true season, the cold air tempering its cloying edges. Who should wear it? Anyone who loves a sweet, gourmand-leaning oriental and doesn’t mind smelling like a dessert that got dressed in a suede jacket. Who should skip it? Anyone who prefers transparent, citrusy, or green fragrances, because this wears like a weighted blanket made of fruit compote and tonka. It isn’t subtle, but it knows exactly what it wants to be.
