Celestial Patchouli
Fragrance notes
Character
Coriander snaps first, a green and peppery jolt that promises a patchouli with some bite. As it settles, the florals rise in a dusty, powdery cluster: rose, orris, iris, and osmanthus, all softened by a faint apricot-like sweetness from the osmanthus. The heart feels like a pressed flower arrangement left too long in a drawer, delicate but slightly tired. Then the base arrives, a warm and earthy curtain of cinnamon-spiced patchouli, cypriol’s smoky vetiver-like tang, and a whisper of leather and sandalwood. The overall character is that of an antique wooden chest lined with faded velvet, floral sachets crumbling at the seams, and cinnamon sticks tucked in the corners.
This is a polite, introspective chypre, not a sillage monster. The numbers back it up: longevity barely touches three hours on skin, and projection hovers at a respectful arm’s length. It feels natural in its dusty, rooty patchouli and iris, but the blend leans slightly synthetic in the osmanthus top, like a preserved flower rather than a fresh one. It suits someone who wants a quiet, bookish rose-patchouli, someone who values intimacy over announcement. Skip it if you crave beast-mode performance or a crisp, modern floral.
Best for overcast fall afternoons or chilly winter evenings, worn close to the chest under a wool scarf. A spring daytime wear is possible, but don’t expect it to carry through a dinner shift.
