CK One Summer 2017
Fragrance notes
Character
CK One Summer 2017 opens with a crisp slap of cucumber and lime, a citron edge that feels like biting into a cold, watery slice of summer. The heart quickly turns peppery, ginger and saffron adding a dusty warmth that clashes with the initial freshness. On skin, the drydown is a faint musky whisper with a ghost of guaiac wood, barely there. The overall effect is like drinking a cocktail on a beach that someone has already finished: you get the ice and the garnish but almost none of the booze. It is unabashedly synthetic and mainstream, a designer summer flanker that knows exactly what it is. The numbers do not lie: longevity barely touches two and a half hours and sillage is a shy arm’s length at best. Who is this for? The person who wants a fleeting, cheerful spritz for a humid afternoon, something to wear to the boardwalk or a picnic before reapplying. Skip it if you expect a fragrance to last through lunch or announce your arrival. It is 100 percent a summer day scent, and 81 percent a daytime one. Does it capture the spirit of a summer vacation? Yes, but only the part where you are walking back to the car, the scent already evaporating in the heat.
