Character
Coach for Men opens citrusy and a little sweet, pear, bergamot, kumquat and grapefruit stacked together with lavender running underneath for a herbal edge. The fruit stays juicy rather than sharp for the first few minutes, giving the citrus a rounder, less aggressive start than most fragrances in this style. It barely leaves the skin, the sort of trail you'd need to stand shoulder to shoulder to catch.
Cardamom, geranium and coriander move into the heart, spicier and a touch green, sitting right on top of the fruit as the wear continues. Geranium especially gives the heart a faint rosy-green quality alongside the drier spices. Ambergris, suede, amberwood and Haitian vetiver bring the base down into a warm, slightly animalic register, dry by the finish, the suede giving it a soft, slightly worn texture underneath the woods.
It's present but never a fragrance that clings stubbornly to fabric, fading at a fairly even, unremarkable pace once the drydown settles in. Warm weather suits it well, worn during the day for citrus-forward, easygoing wear, the kind of fragrance that works without asking the wearer to think about it much.
