This opens like a root vegetable pulled from damp soil, but the carrot here is no kitchen scrap, it is sweetened with peach and buffered by the cool green of geranium. The bergamot gives a fleeting citrus fizz before the heart takes over, and what a bizarrely beautiful heart it is: orris root dusts everything with its signature lipstick powder, ylang-ylang adds a honeyed tropical wobble, and hyacinth brings a sharp, almost aquatic green jolt. Mirabilis, a note I rarely encounter, threads something spicy and dusky through the floral layers.
The whole thing dries down to a soft, musky vanilla with benzoin’s quiet amber warmth, barely above a whisper. That is the weakness here, longevity and sillage are both modest, this is a skin scent within two hours. You will need to reapply or accept its intimate reach. The overall character reminds me of an antique porcelain hand mirror, powdery, floral, and slightly dusty, but with a surprising green stem still attached.
It feels natural in a way that avoids both the farmer’s market and the lab bench, more niche than mainstream, but approachable if you like iris and soft sweetness. Best worn in spring or fall, daytime only, to brunch or a quiet office. Skip this if you demand projection, crave heavy winter gourmands, or think carrot belongs only in salads.
