Our take

Countrycide opens with a bright lift of bergamot and fig, softened by the dry, earthy scent of hay and dried fallen leaves. The citrus is gentle rather than sharp, and the fig adds a rounded fruitiness that keeps the greenery from feeling brittle. This stage feels open and airy, like walking through a field under a clear sky when the air is cool but the sun is still warm.

The heart turns creamy with black vanilla husk and benzoin, supported by the golden scent of beeswax and the mild green touch of clover. The vanilla here is dark and resinous rather than sugary, and the beeswax gives the blend a smooth, slightly animalic weight. Spiced undertones keep the sweetness from becoming flat, while the floral accord adds a light, airy layer that prevents the resins from feeling too heavy.

The base rests on tonka bean and bitter almond, with guaiac wood and sandalwood lending a dry, polished woodiness. The almond brings a faint sharpness that cuts through the rich tonka, and the woods feel smooth rather than smoky. The powdery accord becomes more noticeable here, softening the edges of the resin. The blend can feel slightly muddled as the notes settle, with the sweetness and the powder competing instead of blending cleanly.
