Amalfi lemon and bergamot open Cristalle Eau Verte the way a squeeze of citrus opens a glass of water on a hot day, sharp, clean, gone in a rush. Neroli and magnolia take over next, keeping the freshness going without turning sweet, aromatic more than floral in feel even this early. The drydown asks for patience. Jasmine and iris arrive slowly, and by the time they settle the fragrance has turned from sharp to soft, a powdery, slightly cool floral with musk holding it close to the skin. Iris in particular gives it a grey, dusty quality more restrained than the citrus opening suggested, and jasmine warms that greyness with a soft floral undertone. Little of the earlier zest remains by this point, just a quiet floral hush that sits well past where the top notes checked out, musk the last trace to fade off the skin.
It holds for a fair stretch on skin, never disappearing in minutes, and its presence stays modest throughout: a scent you catch on your own wrist more than one a stranger notices first. That makes it a natural choice for warm mornings and office hours, worn by someone who wants citrus without heaviness. Jacques Polge built something suited to daylight over dinner, spare rather than showy, and that restraint is the whole point.
