Our take

You open a bottle of Deep Woods and get hit with a blast of cardamom and cinnamon that feels more like a spice cabinet than a forest floor, a warm and slightly synthetic sweetness that sits on top of the green cedar and fern before they have a chance to breathe. As it settles, the resins and moss creep in, dragging the scent down into a damp, earthy vetiver base that smells like wet bark and forgotten leaf litter, but the whole thing stays surprisingly clean, almost barbershop fresh, never truly dirty or wild. The drydown is a soft ambered woods with a whisper of spice, and that’s where the charm lives, but also the letdown. For a fragrance called Deep Woods, it has the depth of a suburban hiking trail, polite and safe, with a sillage that barely reaches the person next to you and a longevity that fades faster than a campfire in rain. The audience loves it, a 4.49 rating, but I suspect that’s nostalgia for Oriflame’s catalog, not olfactory ambition. This is a spring afternoon scent for the guy who wants to smell like he just walked through a park, not a wilderness. Skip it if you crave projection or real dirt; wear it to the office or a casual lunch when you want a nod to nature without committing to the mud.
