Our take

Gigi by Avatim opens with a sticky, almost jammy burst of fig and pomegranate, the seriguela adding a tropical tartness that feels like biting into fruit that is just a second past perfect. The heart blooms heavy with white florals, jasmine and lily pushing through orchid like a humid greenhouse at midnight, all that sweetness turning thick and powdery. On the dry down, amber and cedar give it a plush, woody base, but the musk here has an animalic twinge, a furred warmth that keeps it from being merely polite.

This is not a fresh spritz. It is a dense, Oriental floral that sits close to the skin, sillage modest and longevity average, more of a personal cocoon than a room filler. The whole thing reminds me of a silk scarf that has been tangled with dried fruit and face powder, elegant but slightly cloying if you get too close. It feels both natural and synthetic in the same breath, the fruit realistic but the florals a bit waxy. Gigi is for someone who likes their sweetness with a dark edge, a woman who wants to feel plush and warm, not clean and crisp. Skip it if you hate powder or if you need your fragrance to project across a room. This one is for winter nights, for cashmere and dim lighting, when you want to smell like memory and velvet.
