Our take

Leather is the whole opening, dark and a little smoky, with none of the usual citrus or fruit to soften the entry. Cypress joins in the heart, aromatic and cool, and patchouli gives the leather an earthy, animalic depth that reads more like a tanned hide than a polished one. Alberto Morillas composed it in 2017, and the whole structure holds tightly to that single idea of worked leather rather than branching into something sweeter.

Woody notes and vetiver take over in the base, dry and smoky, and this is where the composition sticks around: the leather and patchouli hold their shape well after the cypress has faded, settling into a low, resinous woodiness. The whole thing forms a small halo, felt more than displayed, so the smoke and leather never announce themselves the way a louder oud composition might. Cold air and early dark suit it best, worn more toward evening than daytime hours. It works for someone who wants a dark, minimal leather without the sweetness so many modern woody orientals lean on, a composition built on three or four notes doing real work, not a crowded pyramid of them. Anyone who wants brightness or citrus up top will find nothing of the sort here, only leather, smoke, and wood from first spray to last.
